PUBLICATION GUIDELINES

NORMAS DE PUBLICACIÓN

1.Se deberá remitir el artículo, en medio magnético, al correo electrónico del editor de la Revista vniversitas@javeriana.edu.co.

2. Los artículos deben presentarse en el programa Microsoft Word® (versiones 97 en adelante), letra Times New Roman de 12 puntos, tamaño carta, interlineado doble, márgenes de 3 cm. a cada lado. La paginación del manuscrito estará ubicada en el extremo derecho del encabezado de cada una de las páginas.

3.Por tratarse de una publicación con arbitraje, el Comité Editorial designará evaluadores para el artículo y decidirá, con fundamento en el concepto de los evaluadores y en criterios de rigor científico, sobre su publicación. El Comité tiene la facultad para: aceptar el artículo, solicitar modificaciones o rechazarlo para su publicación.

4. El Comité Editorial otorga prelación a la publicación de artículos que se caractericen por consistir en resultados de investigación con un fuerte referente teórico; ser producto de reflexiones teóricas;  o constituir revisiones críticas sobre el estado de la cuestión objeto de estudio.

5. Los artículos descritos en el parágrafo anterior no podrán exceder las 35 páginas. El Comité Editorial podrá aceptar otro tipo de artículos como notas, comunicaciones, ponencias, resúmenes de contribuciones, reseñas bibliográficas, los cuales no deberán superar las 15 páginas.

6. Por tratarse de una publicación de carácter internacional, se aceptan artículos en otros idiomas.

7. Los artículos deben incluir un resumen en el idioma original, en inglés y en español (acompañado del título en el idioma respectivo), deberá indicar la naturaleza del documento (si es un producto de investigación, una reflexión, o una revisión de un tema), el objetivo general del documento (lo que pretende el documento), la(s) metodología(s) de investigación utilizada(s) y la principal conclusión o evidencia del documento con una extensión máxima de 200 palabras;  deben incluir, así mismo, las palabras clave que describan su contenido, preferiblemente en número de 4 a 6, en los idiomas mencionados.

8. El título del artículo deberá ir seguido del nombre del autor, y este, con asterisco, remitirá a un pie de página en donde se indicarán los grados académicos del mismo, las instituciones donde se obtuvieron, los cargos que actualmente desempeña y la entidad respectiva, la ciudad y el país, y la dirección electrónica.

9. La entrega del artículo deberá estar acompañada por una ficha en la que constará: el título del artículo, el autor o autores, la institución de pertenencia, los títulos académicos, las publicaciones en volumen o en revista, la dirección completa, el número telefónico, el fax y el correo electrónico.

10. Las referencias bibliográficas y de otro orden se consignarán a pie de página, y su enumeración será continua a lo largo de todo el artículo (no debe ser por capítulos).

11. Las referencias se presentarán de acuerdo al manual internacional para las temáticas del área, como sigue (en general, y para lo demás, se seguirán las normas de The Bluebook, A Uniform System of Citation):

a) Para libros: inicial o nombre, apellido, título de la obra en cursiva, volumen o tomo, página(s) (solo números), y a continuación (todo entre paréntesis): edición, editorial, lugar de publicación y fecha. Ejemplo: Ian Brownlie, Public International Law, I, 64-66 (6a. ed., Oxford University Press, Oxford, 2003).

b) Para contribuciones en obras colectivas (capítulos, ponencias, etc.): inicial o nombre, apellido, título del capítulo, ponencia, etc. en cursiva, “en” título de la obra en cursiva, páginas (solo números), y a continuación (todo entre paréntesis): inicial o nombre, apellido, seguido de Ed./Coord., editorial, lugar de publicación y año. Ejemplo: A. Coudet, Direct Foreign Investment in Undeveloped Countries, en Foreign Investment, 123-176 (G. Crane, Ed., Yale University Press, New York, 2003).

c) Para artículos de revista: inicial o nombre, apellido, título del artículo en cursiva, volumen de la revista (solo el número), título de la revista en cursiva, número, páginas que comprenden el artículo (sólo números), página(s) citada(s) (si es el caso), año entre paréntesis. Los títulos en inglés deben ir con mayúsculas iniciales. Ejemplo: Kevin P. Gallagher & Melissa B.L. Birch, Do Investment Agreements Attract Investment?, 7 Journal of World Investment and Trade, No. 6, 47-56, 52 (2006).

d) Para working papers: inicial o nombre, apellido, título en cursiva, páginas, y a continuación (todo entre paréntesis): entidad, “Working Paper” seguido del número, año entre paréntesis. Ejemplo: S. Slovsky, International Political Economy 75-86 (The World Bank, Working Paper R-423, 2002).

e) Para trabajos mimeografiados: inicial o nombre, apellido, título en redonda y entre comillas, y entre paréntesis: “mimeo” y fecha. Ejemplo: F. Lans, “Undepeloped Countries” (mimeo, 1987).

f) Para tratados y otros acuerdos internacionales: nombre completo del tratado o acuerdo, artículo (si es el caso), fecha, publicación oficial.

g) Para jurisprudencia internacional, resoluciones u otros documentos internacionales, se deberán seguir estrictamente los parámetros de cita de las publicaciones oficiales, respetando todos los elementos y el orden de los mismos.

12. En la parte final del artículo se incluirá la bibliografía y demás fuentes utilizadas, en orden alfabético por autor o, en su defecto, por título, respetando en lo demás las pautas para las referencias a pie de página.

13. Se recomienda a los autores consultar y referenciar en sus artículos las revistas de la Facultad de Ciencias Jurídicas de la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá: Vniversitas e International Law: Revista colombiana de derecho Internacional en los siguientes links:

14. La revista se publica en los meses de junio y diciembre de cada año. Se dará contestación por escrito sobre la evaluación del artículo y, en caso de ser aceptado, se informará en cual número se publicará.

15 Para la revista Vniversitas, el envío de un artículo indica que el(los) autor(es) certifica(n) y acepta(n): (1) que éste no ha sido publicado, ni aceptado para publicación en otra revista; (2) que no se ha reportado la publicación de una versión previa como working paper (o 'literatura gris') o en un sitio web, y que en caso de ser aceptada su publicación, lo retirarán de los sitios web y que allí solo dejarán el título, el resumen, las palabras clave y el hipervínculo a la Revista.

16. Al enviar los artículos para su evaluación, el(los) autor(es) acepta(n) igualmente que transferirá(n) los derechos de autor a la revista Vniversitas, para su publicación en versión impresa o electrónica.

17. Respecto de las reseñas de la sección bibliográfica, deben tenerse en cuenta las siguientes reglas:

• Las reseñas de textos se realizarán bajo la modalidad de ensayo-reseña con el fin de realizar un aporte a los lectores que quieran acercarse a un determinado texto. Ello implica la presencia de notas bibliográficas al pie de página que sirvan de comentario crítico a la reseña, tal como se exige en cualquier ensayo académico.
• El ensayo-reseña se referirá al libro escogido y será un texto de una extensión aproximada de 2.000 palabras. El autor de la reseña deberá presentar no solamente una mención de los capítulos de los que se compone el texto, sino también deberá aportar a los lectores un marco referencial para abordarlo.
• El ensayo-reseña debe mostrar las líneas de fuerza o hipótesis centrales del texto reseñado, con el fin de poder hacer la recomendación que se considere pertinente al lector.

Contraprestaciones

Los autores cuyos artículos se publiquen recibirán dos (2) ejemplares de la revista en que resulte publicado su trabajo.

PUBLICATION GUIDELINES

1. Articles shall be sent to the Journal’s editor electronically vniversitas@javeriana.edu.co.

2. Articles shall be presented in Word version (versions 1997 and newer), double-spaced, paper format (sheet size), Times New Roman (12) font, 3 cm. margins. Pages shall be indicated at the right upper end of each one of the pages.

3. As the Journal is subjected to peers evaluation, Editors will appoint anonymous peers to assess the article, and on the basis of their evaluations, and taking into account scientific criteria, Editors will decide on merits for publication. Editors reserve the right to either accept the article as submitted; request changes thereto or condition its publication to the introduction of modifications that are satisfactory to Editors and/or anonymous peers, or reject it.

4. Editors favor the publication of articles featuring the results of academic research or with a strong theoretical basis as well as the product of theoretical or critical approaches to the state of the question.

5. Articles described above cannot exceed 35 pages. Editors may accept other types of articles as notes, communiqués, lectures, summaries, reviews, which cannot exceed 15 pages.

6. As the Journal is an international publication, articles in languages and idioms other than Spanish are accepted.

7. Articles have to include an abstract in the original language, in English and in Spanish (along with the title in the original idiom); they also have to indicate the nature of the document (whether is a product of research, particular study or revision of a determined subject matter), the general purpose of the document (whatever the manuscript seeks), the research methodology adopted and the main conclusions not exceeding 200 words in length. They will include also keywords describing its contents, preferably 4 or 6 keywords in the languages above mentioned.

8. The title of the article shall be followed by the author’s name, and the latter shall be followed by an asterisk whereby a footnote will be indicated and that shall include the author’s academic degrees, current affiliations, entities he or she participates in, city, country and e-mail address.

9. The submission of the article shall be accompanied by a special card indicating article title, author or authors, institution authors belong to, academic degrees, publications either in volumes or in journals, full address, phone number, fax number and electronic address.

10. Bibliographical references and other types of references shall be footnoted and its listing shall be continuous throughout the extension of the manuscript (not chapter by chapter.)

11. References shall be presented following the corresponding area international rules of citation (The Bluebook A Uniform System of Citation shall be followed) will be observed:

b) For contributions in collective books (chapters, lectures, etc.): initials or name, last name, title of the chapter, lecture, etc., in italics, “in” title of the manuscript in italics, pages (only numbers) and next (all in parenthesis): initial or name, last name, followed by Ed./Coord., publishing house, place of publication and year. Example: A. Coudet, Direct Foreign Investment in Undeveloped Countries, in Foreign Investment, 123-176 (G. Crane, Ed., Yale University Press, New York, 2003).

c) For magazine articles: initial or name, last name, title of the article in italics, magazine volume (only the number), title of the magazine in italics, numbers, pages in which the article appeared (only numbers), pages cited (if it’s the case), year in parenthesis. Titles in English shall be referenced with initials in capital letters. Example: Kevin P. Gallagher & Melissa B.L. Birch, Do Investment Agreements Attract Investment?, 7 Journal of World Investment and Trade, No. 6, 47-56, 52 (2006).

d) For working papers: initials or name, last name, title in italics, pages and next (all in parenthesis): entity, “Working Paper”, followed by number, year in parenthesis. Example: S. Slovsky, International Political Economy 75-86 (The World Bank, Working Paper R-423, 2002).

e) For mimeographed works, initial or name, last name, title in bold case and between quotes, and “mimeo” in parenthesis along with the date. Example: F. Lans, “Undeveloped Countries” (mimeo, 1987).

f) For treaties and other international agreements: treaty name or agreement name, article (if it is the case), date, official publication.

g) For international jurisprudence, resolutions or other international documents the parameters of citation of official publications shall be strictly observed, respecting all elements and order thereof.

12. At the final part of the article, the bibliography and other sources will be indicated in alphabetical order following the author’s name or by title, observing footnotes citation guidelines.

13. Authors are encouraged to cite the journals of the Facultad de Ciencias Jurídicas of Pontificia Universidad Javeriaan: Vniversitas and International Law Revista Colombiana de Derecho Internacional which links are the following ones:

14. The journal is published every June and December of each year. A written response will be given as to the article’s final evaluation and in case of acceptance, the issue in which it will be published will be indicated.

15. For the Journal, the reception of one article presupposes that it has neither been published nor accepted for publication in any other journal or that it has been published as a previous version, as a working paper or at the World Wide Web. As well, it presupposes that in case that the article is accepted for publication, the article will be taken off the World Wide Web and that only the title, the abstract, keywords and the Journal’s hyperlink may appear therein.

16. When sending an article for evaluation, its author accepts the assignment of copyrights to the Journal, both for the print and the electronic publication.

17. As to the book review section, the following rules have to be taken into account:

• The text under review has to be characterized by its novelty, scientific character, importance, critical approach and contribution to the Law. These elements which are not mutually excluding have to be taken into account by the author to submit the book review.

• Text reviews shall be presented under the essay-review mode in order to make a contribution to readers interested in such texts. It entails the presence of bibliographical notes which shall be footnoted and presented as critique of the text under review as is the case with any academic essay.

• The essay-review shall be referred to the book that has been chosen and it shall be approximately 2,000 words in length. The author of the review shall present not only a mention of all chapters of the book but also a strong reference framework.

•  The essay-review shall show the main hypotheses of the text in order to make relevant recommendations to potential readers.

Retribution

Authors whose articles are published will receive two (2) issues of the journal in which the article is published.
