The Universidad Javeriana created the Sociology department in 1985. It was inscribed to the Academic Department of Social Sciences (FCS) to fundamentally offer its teachings to the various units within the University as an undergraduate program in itself and as alternative choices of electives in order to promote the interdisciplinary goals aspired by the Institution.
