The Latin American Center

The CLAM, Spanish acronym for Latin American Center, is an academic unit under the auspices of the Language Department in the School of Communication and Language. Its history dates back more than forty-two years, thus making it one of the oldest institutions in Colombia devoted to the teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language. The CLAM has an impressive track record in this field not only in the country but also in Latin America.

The Latin American Center's main objectives are to teach Spanish as a Foreign Language and to spread the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Colombian and Latin American culture.

Foreign students at CLAM benefit from individualized attention due to our small-sized classes and the exceptional academic and cultural environment offered on campus. They meet native speaker teachers with wide experience in Spanish language teaching. The Communicative teaching method is used along with a task-based approach. Faculty members have designed a set of materials to satisfy the particular language needs of our students, and audiovisual and multimedia technology are used to support our courses.
