International Examinations

The Latin American Center is duly authorized by Instituto Cervantes of Spain to administer the DELE (Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language) international examinations. Download more information here

Spanish as a Foreign Language Diplomas are official degrees accrediting language proficiency, and competence in Spanish, issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of Spain.

. Certificate Level A1
This Diploma accredits access to the oral and written language.

. Certificate Level A2
This Diploma accredits comprehension of everyday phrases and expressions related to basic personal information.

. Basic Spanish Diploma (CIE, Spanish acronym)
This Diploma accredits sufficient linguistic competence to perform in situations requiring an elementary level of communication.

. Intermediate Spanish Diploma (DIE, Spanish acronym)
This Diploma accredits linguistic competence required to perform in common daily situations, in normal circumstances of communication that do not require a specialized use of language.

. Higher Spanish Diploma (DSE, Spanish acronym)
This Diploma accredits linguistic competence needed to perform in situations that require an advanced use of Spanish and also cultural knowledge.

Announcements are made twice a year. Candidates who want to take exams to obtain these Diplomas must fulfill the following requirements:

- At the time of registration, to prove his/her citizenship in a country where Spanish is not the official language.

- To register and pay the required fee at the places and within the dates established.
