General Library
Among the main objectives of the General Library, we can find the following:
- To preserve and offer information in knowledge areas accordant with the University’s academic and research programs.
- To provide information services mainly directed to the Javeriana University Community, in a fast, timely, and efficient manner.
- To promote information use among the University’s students, teachers, and researchers.
Schedule: Mondays 6:00 a.m to Saturdays 7:00 p.m without interruption (24 hours open). Sundays and Holidays from 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m.
- Services
The borrowing of bibliographic material is done automatically through the bar codes in such material and in the user’s university card, which enables efficiency and precision in the service’s procedures and timing.
- External Borrowing of Books
Undergraduate and Postgraduate students, teachers, researchers and helpers of the University are authorized.
- Audiovisual Resource Borrowing
The collection includes slides, movies in DVD, VHS, and BETA formats, maps, audio cassettes and records, CDs, among other material, which can be borrowed as reserved material, in compliance of the University regulation.
- Interlibrary Service
The library has agreements with more than 100 information units with the purpose of providing the University with access to material that is not available in campus. When a user requires a book of another library, he/she should go to the borrowing office in the first floor, where help will be provided.
University Card (Smart Card)
This document incorporates advanced technology (smart card), which serves as an ID and payment source in the different sales points at the campus: cafeterias, Javeriana Store, photocopies center, parking lots, etc.
- Issuance for first time admitted students
First time students at an undergraduate or postgraduate program in the University should reach the Admissions Office in the dates informed in the calendar (for Postgraduate students, Wednesdays until 7 p.m). These students should show the matriculation payment receipt.
- Benefits
Bookstore (15% discount): university, technical, consultation, and general interest texts, literature, best-sellers, and imported bibliography and magazines.
Parking Service
The University Community has at its service a parking building with a capacity of 110 vehicles. To access this service, the undergraduate and postgraduate students should reach the Administrative Direction Office of the University (building number 4) and ask about the parking payment plans (one - month or six- month plan).
Taxis
This service is available in the parking building (Guillermo Castro Building, level 1).
Sports Formation Center
The Sports Formation Center is a superb building inside the University Campus. Its main objective is to incentive to the integral education in the University Community through exercise practice, prysical activity, and sports stimulation, in order to promote responsibility, commitment, identity, spirit of belonging, personal improvement, fraternity, and fair competition.
The center’s services include: cardiovascular, aerobics, squash, strength development area, multiple court, and humid zone. Schedule: Mondays to Fridays, from 6:00 a.m to 9:00 p.m and Saturdays, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
