Abstract
The recent arrival of immigrant students to the educational centers in Spain has challenged the school teachers. This article presents, from the point of view of the teachers, those new challenges faced by them at Compulsory High School Education (in Spanish, ESO). It aims to know the education needs that arise from this situation with the purpose of propose new types of permanent education for the teachers, as an institutional support to the attention to the diversity of students coexisting at the classrooms.
Using the multiple case study method, we analyzed and interpreted the information leading to practical conclusions, with high possibilities of being taken into account for permanent education of the involved.

Transference to practice
This paper, resulted from a more generous research, reflects the daily experience of teachers that, as voices with sense and meaning in the education system, should be taken into account, no as a relation of the characteristics that make up the “ideal teacher”, but could be considered for future educational plans to answer the issues they face in the classrooms today and also because, we believe that permanent training of teachers is a cornerstone that ensures the quality of the educational system.
