Abstract
The investigation analyzes the implication of the families of students from 12 to 16 years in the secondary schools, by means of its participation in the Associations of Mothers and Parents of Students and in the activities organized by the own institute. The data have been obtained from a survey designed explicitly for this study, that was responded by 1,388 parents; and from interviews to 21 Parents Associations presidents. There were performed two analysis, one quantitative and another qualitative one. Finally, of the combination of the results of both, the conclusions have been elaborated.

Transference to practice
This study is situated in the line of works as those of Evanthia N. Patrikakou (1996); Candide Pineault (2001); Rachel Seginer and Ad Vermulst (2002) or Raquel Amaya Martínez-González and Lucia Álvarez-Blanco (2006), that confirm that the participation of the parents in the school produces beneficial consequences for all the educational community, like attitudes more collaborators of the parents; positive appraisal of the teachers ; greater self-esteem and better performance of the students; and big commitment with the environment. In agreement with the obtained results, formulas set out to increase this participation.
