All year long and almost every year, those who are lucky to be near institutions whose mission is associated with the production, discussion and circulation of knowledge, are overwhelmed by the amount of activities in which research progress, intervention products and reflection results of an important group of academics, researchers and professionals in general, are showed.
The before mentioned shows the epistemological, theoretical and methodological worry of academic communities. They invest a great part of their time in understanding, explaining and transforming situations considered “interesting” for the development of science, and for the improvement of the people and group’s life quality, in a commitment with science and society.
Education and pedagogy do not escape of this knowledge, this is why is almost impossible to participate of all the meetings, seminars, encounters, congresses, chairs, conferences and some other activities in which it is possible to debate a variety of subjects, and each one of them would give hours and hours of conversation and confrontations for its validation.
magis, International Journal of Research on Education, joins this academy effort to build stages for the popularization of findings, researches, reflections and applications of educative and pedagogic knowledge. Luckily, we have been able to corroborate that are many the academics who consider that reformulate its own productions to be published is valuable. This way, those productions can become a support to other works and material to academic critics. We will have to continue making an effort to look out for readers and, in particular, qualified readers of their own.
More important that having good publications, it is to be able to count on qualified readers of the articles, available for researchers, groups and communities in general, in so many quality magazines. A question that arises in almost everyone responsible for publications, such as scientific magazines, is how to achieve popularity among those persons who can benefit from their articles. This would not seem to be necessary, because those who research, study, develop their graduate thesis, want to improve their practices, are dedicated to the teaching in any education level, develop innovations etc. would be eager for them and, besides, would be aware of the new publications in their fields.
However, that is not exactly true. As an academic said in his book presentation: “even though there is a lack of writers, there is an even bigger lack of readers”. Hence the hurry of editors, directors and their respective committees to be part of indexes, databases, collections and other type of classifications that allow the called “visualization” and acknowledgment of academic production, not always with the intention to make possible that more persons can reach knowledge but also to back the demands of the consolidated knowledge market. It is not about stay on the sidelines, it is about keeping the perspective for which those publications are generated.
This is why we invite our kind readers to support us; for the articles carefully selected in this third issue of magis will be known in their research groups, among their students and all the people who might benefit from the presented subjects.
As in almost all journals of its kind, articles can be found that make reflections on ethic and social aspects, initial formation of teachers, reasons to choose and stay in school, corporal dimension and game as motivator element in basic education, difficulties of learning specialized concepts, the role of the family, the challenge of diversity and the review of reading and writing in 1940. We release this issue with an interesting article, our guest, about the implications of the use of technology in educative environments and in daily life.
It must be highlighted that these writings come from eight countries (Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Spain, United States of America, England and Mexico), being the Spaniards the highest number of authors.
We are very proud of our new issue and we hope that, for all of you, its reading will be very valuable.
