PRESENTATION

ASSEMBLY IAJU 2025

Assembly ‘25 will ask experts and delegates to reflect on and offer concrete suggestions for how a Jesuit university may contribute to the preparation of young leaders for society and how it might expand knowledge and understanding of the challenges and potential solutions. The Plenary Sessions and workshops are designed to allow for exchange of ideas, best practices and encourage collaborations. Our individual and collective responsibility then, is the focus of the Assembly 2025 at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogota’.

Pontificia Universidad Javeriana

Bogotá D.C

“We seek to answer the question of what is particular to our institutions, what is that “special” or “unique” quality that characterizes their mode of inserting themselves in the present moment in the construction of the desired future.”

Fr. Arturo Sosa, S.J.
Superior General of the Society of Jesus

"The IAJU Assembly fosters collaboration among higher education institutions. It helps us come together, learn from one another, and decide on future directions of our mission in challenging times"

Joseph Christie, S.J.
Secretary for Higher Education at the Jesuit Curia in Rome

"Let’s gather at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá to reimagine the impact of Jesuit universities"

Luis Fernando Múnera, S.J.
President - Pontificia Universidad Javeriana

"The Society of Jesus is encouraging us to collaborate with one another, that is, to leverage our global network to advance the effectiveness and impact of our institutions. These Assemblies inspire and promote inter-institutional collaborations."

Rev. Michael J. Garanzini, S.J.
President AJCU

"With the IAJU Assembly, we will learn from one another how to better fulfill our mission; what our institutions have in common and how we differ. All of this will encourage us to intensify our efforts to change the world for the better"

Philip Geister, S.J.
President Kircher Network

"At the IAJU Assembly we will reflect on how our universities participate in the Jesuit mission of reconciliation and justice which has three dimensions: reconciliation with God, with one another, and with creation"

Roberto C. Yap, S.J.
President AJCU - AP

"These types of meetings always achieve results beyond those expected. Based on my previous experiences, I can say that my university has emerged strengthened from the IAJU assemblies, with new working relationships and closer human relations"

Fernando Ponce, S.J.

"With more than a dozen countries in sociopolitical turmoil, Jesuit mission in the Africa region faces strong challenges ranging from security and forced migration to social and economic justice, climate change and sustainable development. In this regard, the theme of this third General Assembly is overdue in Africa: our Mission in Challenging Times."

François Kaboré
President AJCU-AM

"The Assembly is an excellent platform to review and reorient the mission of higher education in the six Jesuit conferences of the Society of Jesus and confirm its roots of Ignatian tradition against the backdrop of signs of the times."

Rev. Fr. C. Joe Arun, SJ
President, JHEASA
