Una delegación de la Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) visitó la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana para explorar nuevas oportunidades de cooperación académica y fortalecer los lazos entre ambas instituciones.

La comitiva estuvo encabezada por Stéphane Pallage, rector de la UQAM, junto a Jasmin Roy, jefe de gabinete; Neko Likongo, director de Relaciones Internacionales; Jessica Payeras-Robles, profesora de la Escuela de Lenguas; y Mathieu Parenteau, director para América Latina y el Caribe del Ministerio de Relaciones Internacionales y de la Francofonía de Quebec.

Durante la visita, los directivos se reunieron con el rector de la Javeriana y con los profesores de la Cátedra Senghor para discutir posibles proyectos conjuntos, especialmente en movilidad estudiantil, investigación colaborativa y cooperación cultural francófona.

Como parte de la agenda, Stéphane Pallage dictó la conferencia “Las universidades, el sexto poder esencial para la democracia”, resaltando el rol de las instituciones de educación superior en la promoción del pensamiento crítico, la libertad académica y la formación ciudadana.

La visita fue altamente productiva para ambas partes y sienta las bases para nuevos proyectos que buscarán estrechar aún más la colaboración entre Canadá y Colombia en el ámbito educativo y cultural.
 

A delegation from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) visited the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana to explore new opportunities for academic cooperation and to strengthen the ties between both institutions.

The delegation was led by Stéphane Pallage, Rector of UQAM, together with Jasmin Roy, Chief of Staff; Neko Likongo, Director of International Relations; Jessica Payeras-Robles, Professor at the School of Languages; and Mathieu Parenteau, Director for Latin America and the Caribbean at the Ministry of International Relations and La Francophonie of Quebec.

During the visit, the officials met with the Rector of the Javeriana and with the professors of the Senghor Chair to discuss possible joint projects, especially in student mobility, collaborative research, and Francophone cultural cooperation.

As part of the agenda, Stéphane Pallage delivered the lecture “Universities, the Sixth Essential Power for Democracy,” highlighting the role of higher education institutions in promoting critical thinking, academic freedom, and civic formation.

The visit was highly productive for both parties and lays the foundation for new projects that will further strengthen collaboration between Canada and Colombia in the educational and cultural fields.
